The younger layers show less offset (0.56 m) than the older sediments (1.7 m) as they have been subject to fewer rupturing episodes. In other words the 1.7 m offset of the oldest bed includes the 0.74 + 0.56 m offsets of the younger beds (after Hancock 1988).
